Let's run a 10K.......

This post was from 3/18 - technical difficulty kept me from posting until now.
So there was a local 5K/10K this weekend. The weekend before marathon #2. But our marathon #2 is also our dear friend Renee's half marathon #1!!!! Her first!!!! So she wanted to run through race ettiqutte and do a pre-race drill with this 10K. So I signed up. I also signed up my youngest daughter Danielle for the 5K. Danielle's training consisted of 1 0.25 mile run followed by a 0.75 mile walk. That's it. She had side stitches after 0.25. I had knee swelling after out precourse run the previous Saturday which resulted in an Orthopedic visit and cortisone shot. So the plan was, make Renee comfortable, keep the knee safe!
We started great! Ran 0.5 then started 1 min run 30 sec walk intervals as planned. It was WARM! Way warm!! Sunshine beating down warm.... In MARCH were last Sunday we had snow flurries. Anyway we ran and got to a point where I saw an arrow pointing left but no person . Until then there had been a person at every turn, so I kept straight... WRONG WAY.... so we end up on a crazy busy road playing Frogger With NO shoulder and lots of traffic!! We made it back to the course and continued our run not knowing whether we would be over the mileage because of our mistake or under. Last water stop out of water.... This was an Ambulance chase put on by the local hospital.... Maybe trying to drum up business.... Anyway I digress. I finished with 5.8 miles showing on the Garmin. CE to find out everyone in front of us had done the same thing. Oh well I had a great time and saw lots of people I know. Danielle ran with a friend's daughter and she got a PR of 44 min!! The race had super tech shirts and really cute medals.

The Inaugural Crystal Coast Tri - FULL BOOTY

Full Booty race report. The weather reports all week had stated we would have substantial winds and possible thunderstorms. We had all of that. I had lots of friends doing this race. That was great and we shared some great pre-race time together.  This is also the first race we have had family (other than my youngest daughter) at. That was different!  I think I should share a little pre-race. Jill with the race knew me by first name in March. I need a lot of information to ease my mind and make my plan. She was wonderful. We had been told there would be certain nutritional items on the course but what we were told was very limited.  Soooo plan B was initiated.... Team SPAZ members (my sister and youngest daughter) were recruited for run stop #7 between mile 9 & 10. They were stocked with baby wipes, Kleenex, chicken broth, pickles, jelly beans and pickle juice. Now I feel better and have something to run too. Race day The Swim: 33 or so of us enter the water ...

What the HIVES?!?!?!?!??

2 weeks prior to the Divas Half Marathon I began to notice a strange redness during one of my workouts. Then I realized it was hives. The hives were only on my legs and mainly on my knees. I took some Benadryl that night. The next afternoon I had hives again. I went to the pharmacy and got some spray for the uncontrollable itching that you COULD NOT scratch or the result would be a fire like sensation. I also got an allergy medicine I could take during the day. The next day was a long bike. No hives, no hives, no hives, 10 pm HIVES. What the heck???? So I stopped using Voltarin. Still had hives after 3pm everyday. Some days worse than other days. Ugggghhhhhh So Friday I shave, no hives, and get ready for the beach trip (Divas Half Marathon Myrtle Beach). We get to the beach and I changed into pajamas and BAD HIVES. I notice they do not go above mid thigh. I don't shave above mid thigh.... Hummmmm I wonder. Well I didn't shave any all weekend. Got a PR for the Half Marathon. Bo...

TrivaVal's W.B. marathon report

The week before a big event your mind and body do some strange things. First your body begins to ache all over. Second you are an emotional nightmare of emotions and completely irrational. Third your mind is an uncontrollable barrage of must do this, must get this, do not forget this which is why the kitchen sink ends up being part of your luggage. Travel day finally arrives! Hopefully you have a huge vehicle because the kitchen sink is going in. Your mind has played out every possible "what if" scenario resulting in at least 3 bags of items being packed. The night before.... Now you would think you would like to get a great nights sleep on this night but it is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Hopefully you have had some sleep the week before because you will lie in bed miserable tossing and turning all night and may even have some very interesting or terrifying dreams. This particular race my dream was that we were being chased by a human size chicken during the race...
